ALEXANDRA SCHOOL.

The annual examination of the children attending the Alexandra School took place on Thursday the 22nd instant, in the presence of the School Committee and a large number of ladies. The examination, which was conducted by Mr. Reid, the teacher, was highly creditable to himself and his scholars.

The prizes having been distributed by the Chairman of the School Committee, several addresses were given, after which, the children were handed over to the ladies, who treated them to pastry, lollies, koto their heart’s content. When the children had regaled themselves, Mr. Tlieyers in a neat speech thanked the la Res for the attention they had shown the children, and hoped they would continue the same course. Mr. Findlay then addressed the children, and the proceedings terminated.

About nine o’clock, the Schoolroom was again crowded, this time, by votaries of Terpsichore, who footed it merrily “ till daylight did appear.” The following is the prize list First Class.—Jane Finlay, first prize. Michael Robertson, second prize. .William Telford,, third prize. Second Class.—Annie Paget, first prize_ Edward Ryan, second prize. John Ryan, third prize. Third Claes.—Jessie Telford, first prize. Eliza Ferguson, second prize. Minnie Tunnel, third prize. In the juvenile division classes. 4 to 8, received prizes.
