ALEXANDRA.
(from our own corresponds -T.) In fo-mercommucications, I have referred to the Manuherikia Ground sluicing Company’s new seat of labor on the Molyneux, where, with the very best appliances they can bring to bear, they have as yet failed to obtain the mastery of the water. It was the universal opinion that most of the Water came from the large reservoir, on the flat, just at the bank of their claim. With the view of testing this question, the company have drawn off all the water. They are now able to just keep the water down, but I fear, as they sink to a greate depth, and their pumps get more p rpendicu ar, they will not be able to manage.it. The shareholders however arc sanguine of reaching bottom, and of striking payable gold. A number of practical miners from the Teviot visited the claim on Friday last, and inspected th plant. They expressed themselves highly please I and intimated their intention of introducing the same system on their c'aims. Mr. Drummy, thoinventnrof the machine for raising water from the Molyneux on to the banka, is exhibiting the mode' at. the Foyal Mail Hotel, Alexandra. Everyone who has seen it is unanimous in the opinion that it will answer the purpose for which it was designs I. Mr. Crummy, 1 believe, intends convening a meeting on Monday evening next, for the purpose of forming | a company and laying ''eforethe meeting an account of the cost, of materials and construction. Should the company be formed, and the machine prove a succ es, the prospects of the district will be materially altered for the better.
