ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of the Council wad held in the Council Chamber on Friday last the 15th instant. Present, R. Finlay, Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Theyers, Bcresford and Hillhouse. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved. A letter from A, Barr Esq., Chief Postmaster, in respect to the irregularities in the conveyance of the Mail, and stating that the Contractors had made such arrangements as w< nld prevent an occurrence of the same. The Town C'erk laid on the table the half yearly statement of receipts and expenditure, shewing a balance to credit of £129 Bs. sd. The statement was referred to the Finance Committee, and accounts amounting to £6 12s. passed for payment. Resolved, that Councillor Beresford be Returning Officer for the coming elections. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
