ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual meeting of the Council was held on Friday evening, the 17th instant. Present, the Mayor, and Councillors Beresford and Theyers. The minutes of previous m'eetiugs were read and confirmed. The outward cofcrespond&ice was read and approved.
A letter was read from Mr. Fraser, M.P. C., stating that, owing to the present feeling in the Provincial Council, he had been unable to get a sum placed on the Estimates to guarantee subsidy for the next three years. The letter was received. A reply was received from the Commissioner of Police, in which the appointment ‘of Constable Morkane as Inspector 'Of Nuisances was sanctioned.
Accounts connected with the water supply, amounting in the aggregrate to £52 10s., Vvere passed for payment.
The Town Clerk stated that the Governtaent subsidy on the rates collected had been placed to the Credit of the Corporation. Also that the revision of the Citizens’ Roll would take place on the Bth of July next.
The Works Committee was instructed to examine the rook jutting onto the street at the entrance of the town, and it it was found easy of removal, to have ddne it at once. This concluded the business before the Council.
