The appointment of Mr. Ward to the District Judgsliip of Hokitika i.-i positively denied by the AttorneyGeneral; Mr. Miller’s motion for a Vote of want of confidence in the Government was lost by a majority of nineteen to nine. Mr. Smythies’ application for readmission to practice as a barrister ai.d solicitor has been refused. The ketch Folly was capsized ori the Kaiopoi bar, and two men were drowned.
