CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Weiinesday evening. Present: The Mayor and Councillors Patterson, Hueston. and N nylor. The minutes of the proceeding were read and confirmed. A memorial to his Honor the Superintendent, praying that a street might be surVayedat the back of both sides of Sunderland street, was rea I and approved, The resignation of Sergeant Thompson as Inspector of Nuisances Was read and accepted. A sub-committee was appointed to act as assessors for levying water-rate for the year 1870-1. The thanks of the Council were awarde to Sergeant A. Tbi inpern hj r the efficient manner in which he had isclurged his duties of the office of Inspector of Nuisances to the Corporation. Resolve!, That application be made in the proper quarter for the appointment of Sergeant Neil to the office of Inspector of Nuisances. It was resolved, That a memorial be forwarded to the Government to place a sum upon the estimates for the repairs of tiie road between Clyde and Cromwell, and that a letter be written and forwarded to the Corporation of Cromwell, asking their co-operation in the matter. Tiie usual vote of thanks terminated the procee ing.
