CLYDE SCHOOL.
A regular meeting of the Committee was held on the Stli inst. Present : Messrs. Pyke (in the cliair), George, Hast is, Hazlett, Hueston, Marshal, ami Christophers. The minutes of the last public, general, ami special meetings were read and confirmed.
Proposed by Mr. ITastie, seconded by Mr. George, and carried, That Mr. Christophers he appoint'! 1 Honorary Clerk an i Treasurer of this Committee, appointment to date from the 10th January last.
The correspondence was rea l and re eeived.
The Clerk stated that Mr. E. G. Ryan oft'-red £SO for the .School-house on behalf of Father Norris, Catholic Priest. Proposed by Mr. Hazlett, secon cd by Mr. Marshall and carried : That a reply ho sent to the effect, that the Committee cannot take less than £IOO for the building ami laud.
Accounts to the amount of £3 10s Gd were passe 1 for payment. Proposed by Mr. Marshall, seconded hy Mr. Hazlett and carried That application he ma 'c to Mr Hislop, Secretary of the Educational Board, for a subsidy of £IOO being placed in this year’s estimates towards the erection of a new residence for the Master.
Mr, Christophers proposed that salary in full for January in full he paid to Mr Clark, the late teacher. There being no seconder, the motion lapsed. It was then proposed by Mr. Hazlett, secon'ed by Mr. 1 ias tic, an 1 carried, That half the amount £S fit Sd be passe b Proposed by Mr. II iz'et 1 , seconded by Mr. Hueston and carriol. That Messrs Has'ie. Marshall and Christophers be appointed a Visiting Committee, with power to arrange with the Schoolmaster for the sale nf surplus garden stock. Mr. Histie gave noHc-i of motion for the election of a Schoolmistress was by consent withdrawn for the present. Mr. E. logs, the new Schoolmaster attended the moitm r an 1 cmfe:T«vl with the Committee in reference to the School - buildings <Vc. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting separated.
