We are sorry to record tljat this race terminated fatally to the winner of the hurdle race handicap at Alexandra, Pasha, who on taking the last leap sltinhled and broke his neck. The Publican's Purse brought seven horses into the field and was won by Mr. Hazlott’a B Eight horses started for the hack stick gaining tho stakes, past two o’clock the boll rang for «■ the Maiden Plate, but to the •1 all, this was a walk over by Mr. Novice; Immediately after-wards,

An excellent start was effectel'jl Skyonian took the lead but was soon collated by Spec who maintained his position for about half a mile, and making the pice rather warm. Excelsior then want to the front and gained the post about one hundred yards in advance. Hurdle Race of 30 sovs. Twice round the course, over eight flights of hurdles. No weight under lOst. Mr. Cowan’s Poison, aged, (Gray) / 1 Samson’s Doctor Black, aged, (Swan) 2 M ‘Morran's Turpin, aged, (Foote) 3 Three others started. From the start to the finish this was an excellent race, all the horses taking their leaps in good style. The race lay between Poison and Pasha till the last jump, when the latter fell, breaking his neck. Publicans’ Purse Handicap of 40 sovs, with sweepstake of 1,1 Is. Two miles. Mr. Hazlett’s Novice, 4 years, 7st. 4'b. (Billy) 1 Smitham’s Cromwell, 5 years, 6st. 121b. (Sooted 2 Garrett’s Nelly Grey, 6 years, Sst, 01b. (Gray’) 3 Three others started. Novice made the running, closely pressed by Nelly Grey, for the first mile, when Cromwell took second place and gave the Novice her work to do to keep her position, which, however, she succeeded in doing, and came in a winner by two lengths. Hack Race of 15 sovs. One mile heats. No weight under lOst. 11b. Post entry LI Is. Eight horses started for this race, amona whom were some good old veterans. The stakes finally fell to Roderick, who won the second and third heats. The first heat was won by Wallaby.
