TOWN COUNCIL. CLYDE.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers, on Wednesday, 23rd instant. Present, J. Hazlett, Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Cambridge, Patterson, Hastic and Clark. The minutes of previous meetings were rea l and confirmed.

The following enrre pondenee was read. A letter from Mr. Over, the contractor for the Town Hall, asking for £l5O on account.

From Secretary to Masonic Lo ’ge asking upon what terras the Council will let the Town Hall for every alternate Tuesday Evening for the space of a year. From Mr. Sperry, Clerk to the Treasury to the effect that a statutory declaration will have to bo made and sent to the Government, showing the amount of rates collected upon which subsidy is claimed. A sub-committee was appointed to arrange with the Masonic body for the use of the Hall.

The Town Clerk -was instructor! to apply to His Honor the Superintendent for particulars of lease granted to Mr. J. Holt. Four objections were read against the water rate assessment. Three were not received on account of no sufficient reason being adduced. The fourth was reduced £l.

The Town Clerk was instructed to collect at once the water rate.

With a vote of thanks to the Chair the meeting closed.
