CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Town Council was held at the Council Chamber on Wednesday evening last. Present : J. Hazlett. Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Clark, Atkins, Cambridge, and Ziele. The minutes of the meetings held on the 13th and 17th ultimo were read and conconlirmeil. The inward and outward correspondence was read, received, and adopted Messrs. Peterie and Sons, on behalf of the contractor for the new town-hall, were granted permission to quarry stone within the Municipality. A discussion ensued respecting the new town-hall. Ultimately it was resolved that the front of the building should be four feet six inches from the line of the street, and that the question of removing the Council Chamber be left in the hands of the Public Works Committee. The tender of W. Wells for keeping the channels clear and turning water down the same, for the sum of £2 per month, was accepted. The standing Orders were suspended and accounts amounting to £lO Ss. 9d. were passed for payment. The account of Mr. Brough, Solicitor, was referred back for explanation. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
