CLYDE SCHOOL.

A meeting of the Committee was held at the School House on Monday evening last. Present : Messrs. Pyke, Christophers, George, Hazlett, Ilueston, and Marshall. Mr Hazlett in the chair. The minutes of the public meeting held on the llth of January were read and confirmed. Proposed by Mr. Pyke, That Mr. Christophers be appointed Hon, Clerk and Treasurer to tlio Committee, the appointment to date from the llth of llth of January last. Seconded by Mr. George, and carried. Letters were read and received from Mr. Hislop, Secretary to the Education Board; from Mr. George ; from Mr. W. L. Bailey, Secretary to the Duustan Lodge of Freemasons ; and from Mr. Clarke, the Schoolmaster. The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the receipt of letters from the Secretary of the Educational Board, and to inform him that there are-no poor or destitute scholars taught in the School, and that for the present the Committee wish to take no further action as to selling the School House. Proposed by Mr. Pyke, That Mr. George bo requested to submit in writing particulars of his complaint as reported in his letter of the 4th December. Seconded by Mr. Marshall, and carried. The Clerk was instructed, on receipt of Mr: George’s complaint, to ask the Schoolmaster for a written explanation, and to convene a special Committee meeting to consider the matter. Proposed by Mr. Pyke, That the Secretary of the Educational Board he a ked to furnish the School with “ non-attendance slips,” similar to those used in the High School and Dunedin- District Schools, Seconded by Mr. Marshall, and carried. The Schoolmaster’s report for February was read and received. R. Moore’s account, 10s., for hell-ringing, was passed for payment. Proposed by Mr. Marshall, seconded by Mr. Pyke, and carried, That the Schoolmaster bo informed that no trees or plants were to be removed from the garden attached to the master’s residence without the express permission of the Committee, A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
