MOUNT IDA JOCKEY CLUB RACES.

The first race meeting of the Alount Ida Jockey Club took plate oh Tuesday the ICth inst., at their racecourse, Eden Creek Read, a'd was a perfect ;uul undeniable success. There was a 1 Irg-j number of visitors both from the neighboring and up-country districts. Afr. Warden Robinson acted as judge, and Air. E. T. George as clerk of the . course. The following were (he events of tho first day:— Maiden Plate of 33 Sovs., for all horses that havener Jr won an advertise 1 prize (hack races and matches excepted.) Weight for ago. Distance, one mi e and a half. Air. Glassford’s c c. Don John, 3 yrs. I Little’s eh,m. Little Kell, o yrs... 2 Carey’s c g. Charley, aged .. 3 Alain’s Sinbad, it yrs. For this race four standee!. There was not much excitement in this race, Don John winning in a canter. District Handicap of 300 Sovs. Distance, one mile and a half. Mr. Oiassford’s b.g, Merrythought .. I Ray's b in. Beeswing ... .... 2 Duhig’s c.g. Wizard ... ... 3 Inner's c.iu. Ladybird Tennant’s c.m Carry Siangan’s r.g. Glencoe Keenan’s Topsy Seven horses started, Merrythought won easily. Hur To Race of 30 sovs. Welter weights fm- age. Over eight flights of hurdles. Distance, two mi es. Hr ‘ Haudyside’s blk.g. Hindoo .. 1 Forster’s c.g Charley .. 2 Carey’s g.g. Tommy.. .. 3 Three horses only entered for this race. Hindoo was the favorite, and came isi an easy winner. Alount Ida Cup of GO Sovs. for all horses. Weight for age. Distance two miles, Second horse to save his stake. Air. Olassfor.i’s b.g'. Merrythought ... 1 Ray,s e.f. Mauve ... .. 2 Limbriek’s b.g. Traveller ... 3 luler’s b.m. Substance Keenan’s c.f. Topsy Alanvc was the favorite for this race, .which was very closely contested. Merryy thought won by half a length. For the Hack Race eleven horses started. Both heats were won by Freetrader, Young Alma, who was tho favorite, being nowhere. Daniel O’Rouke came in a very good second. SECOND DAY. For the Allners’ and Packers’ Purse eight horses started. The fiist heat was won by Crawfor rs Bryan O'Lynn. The second resulto I in a well-contested race between Bryan O'Lynn and. Hamilton, Bryan eventually winning by half a length. Alount Ida. Jockey.
