SECOND DAY—FRIDAY, JANUARY 1. The weather was most favorable for a good days sport, and the number of visitors on the course far exceeded that of yesterday; the only drawback to thorough enjoyment was the ino' dinate length of time that elapsed before the Jockeys mounted for the first race, and again between the events; but, one and all were well pleased. This was a well contested raoe, and caused a considerable amount of excitement, especially in the last heat, every inch of the ground being fought for, terminating in Jeannie reaching the winning post by about a length. A good deal of money changed hands over this event, and if the faces of many were any criterion, we imagine the pot hnile 1 over. Five horses started. The race was between Spec, Golden Cloud and Idle Bov, when about half way round second time Spec and Merrythought bolted, and Scavenger then took and maintained the lead to the finish, winning by a length. '
