CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting was held in tho Council Chambers, on Monday the 23rd November. Present: tbe Mavo", and Councillors Smitham, Burros, Kelly, and Booth. The minutes of previous meeting were road and confirmed. A letter was read from tho Secretary for Land and Works, stating that the Government decline to return the money tbe Council expended in constructing the road through the township. Other correspondence was read and received Report of Mr. G. Becsloy, Surveyor, on the approach to the Bannockburn Ferry, was read. Resolved, upon the motion of Cr. Smitham seconded byCr. Kelly, ThattheTown Clerk write to bis Honor the Superintendent, stating the astonishment and indignation that is felt by the whole district at there not boa resident Clerk of the Court here. Resolved, upon the motion of Cr. Kelly, seconded by Cr. Sitham, The Mayor and Councillors wait upon Mr. Pyke, to solicit his support and influence to an application to the Government, to build a suitable Court House at Cromwell. It was resolved that the Town Clerk advertise a public meeting to be held in the Town Hall, on Saturday next the 2Sth inst. (vide Advertisement) The Town Clerk was requested to acknow. ledge receipt of letter from Mr. Edwar s, of Nevis Ferry, respecting Nevis road.
