CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Council was held on the 26th inst., at the Council Chamber. Present: The Mayor and Counc Hors Kelly an 1 Booth. The minutes of the previous meeting were rerd and confirmed. The assessment of the property in the Municipality, for the year 1808-9 was allowed. The applications for permission to conduct water from the town race were grantc'. Letters were read from his Honor the Superintendent and Mr. G. Duncan (Secretary for Lan I and Works. Upon the motion of Cr. Booth, seccm'ed by Cr. Kelly, it was resolved, That the Town Clerk be instructed to write appropria.e answers to the above-named gentlemen. Proposed by Cr. Kelly, secon ’ed by Cr. Booth, and resolved, That the thanks of the Council be recor ed to Mr. Charles O’Neill, M.H.R., an! the other Goldfields Members, for the prompt and zealous support they gave to the prayer of the memorialists for an extension of the go dfilds in the Upper Clutha District. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the proceedings.
