CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.
A ro; cling of the Cromwell Town Council was held in the Council Chambers, Cromwell, on the 12th inst. Present: the Mayor, and .Councillor 8 Smit.ha.in, Burres, Kelly, and Booth. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. It was resolved upon the motion of Or. Burres, seconded by Cr. Kelly, That the Town Clerk be instructed to order a table and a form for the Council Chambers, and four notice boards, for the purpose of being placed along the town water race, cautioning persons not to cause anything to go into it that may cause a nuisance, on pain of being prosecuted.. . Resolved, upon tho motion of Cr. Kelly, seconded by Cr. Burres, That the “Town Clerk bo requested to draw out a notice, warning persons not to conduct the water from the town watcr-raoe, without obtain ing the permission of the Council to do so. Resolved, upon the motion,of- Cr, Burres seconded by Cr. Kelly, That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to his Honor the Superintendent; requesting the Government to direct the District Engineer to look at the proposed line of road to the Nevis, as ra gards theapproaebto and from the Kawarau River, and to report to the Council which place will cause the least outlay of cash, and always bearing in mind that the sum passed in ‘the Appropriation Bill' ■{fir the making of the road is but £650. The Town Clerk was instructed to write .to the Secretary fqr Land and Works to specting the completion .of road through I the township, also' to notify persons in
arrear of rates, informing them that if amounts due were not pai l at once, legal proceedings to recoverwill bo instituted. Account passed Spensley and Co. £8 10«.
