DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

The monthly meeting of the Committee of the above Institution wa3 held in the Council Chambers, on Tuesday evening, the 6th inst. Present: V. Pyke, Esq., (President), and Messrs. Christophers, Fache, Hueston, Ilastie, Patterson, Beck, Grindley> M'Pherson, M'Connochie, Clark, and R. Batlow, (Secretary). The meeting of Contributors, and of special meeting of Committee were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read and confirmed. The reports of the Visiting Committee the Treasurer, and House Surgeon were read and received. The Visiting Committee's report recommended the payment of £l7O. lis. Id. for salaries and supplies, and reported that the arrangements of the institutioe were, in every respect satisfactory, also, that they had during the past month expended the sum of £2O in the erection of a wire fence •long the side of the Hospital reserve front, ing the river. The House Surgeon reported the average number of patients in the house for the month to be sixteen; discharged ten; died two. The Treasurer reported balance inhand to b e £234. 17s. lid. and Government subsidy due £llß9. ss. sd. Proposed by Mr. Christophers, seconded by Mr. Fache, That the Secretary be instructed to apply to the Government for an instalment of the subsidy due. Carrie d. Mr. J. Patterson was elected member of the Visiting Committee, vice Mr. Fache, who retires by rotation. The Secretary notified that the St. Bathan'a Local Committee exhibited great apathy in the matter of raising funds towards the support of the Hospital, and requested the Committee to give him definite instructions as to what course he should pursue. After discussion, in which Messrs Clark and M'Connochie took part, it was ultimately adopted, That the Secretary forward to Messrs Stratford, Bedlow, and Stewart subscription lists, with the request

that tbey 'will collect money on behalf of the Institution, and, at the same time, inform those gentlemen that forms of recommendation will be issued immediately on receipt of subscriptions. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings. *
