ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
Ihe usual fortnightly meeting was hchl in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, the 28rd ult. Present : the Mayor ami full Council. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read and approved. Letters were read from Messrs. J. C. Chappel and J. C. Camming applying for the office of valuators to the Corporation for the year ISGS-9, being the only applicetions handed in. On the motion of Cr. Theyers, Messrs. Chappel and Gumming were appointed valuators for the year 1868-9. The Works Committee reported that they had examined the ground applied for by Mr. A\ illiam Wilson, as a residence area ; but, as it took in part of four surveyed sections, one of which was a municipal section, they could not recommend the Council to second his application. This was agreed to, and the Town Clerk was instructed to notify the same to Mr. Wilson. It was decided that the meetings of the Council in future to ha hel lon alternate Fridays, instead of Wednesdays as at present A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business, and the meeting was adjourned till Friday, the 9th inst.
