DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

A meeting of the Committee of the above institution was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening last the Ist inst. Present, Mr. D. M'Pherson in the Chair, and Messrs . Hazlett, Grindlcy, Hastie, Savior, Huestou, A. Christophers (Honorary Treasurer) and R. Barlow, (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary stated that the following donations to the fumls had been received by him,—£2B 17s Gd from Mr. A. Bathgate being amount realised by a Ball given at Cromwell ; £5 Is from J. S. Hickson Esq. Teviot, collected by him ; £lO 17s Gd from Cromwell Race Committee, being amount of Hospital Race competed for at Cromwell. Spring Meeting and won by Mr. R. Loughnan's horse. The Secretary was instructed to thank the respective donors for their handsome donations. A letter from H. W. Robinson Esq, Pre. sident, tendering his resignation was read. The Secretary was instructed to draw the attention of members of committee who have absented themselves from three consecutive meetings of the Committee to Rule 15. The reports of the Visiting Committee and Resident Surgeon showing the average number of the patients in the Institution, for the month, to be fourteen, wore read and adopted. Accounts amounting to £l4O Is. -Id were passed for payment. The Treasurer's report, showing a balance

in hand of £2G4 Is 9d, and Government Subsidy due £9lB 23 11 was adopted. Mr. C. Hueston was elected a member of the Visiting Committee, vice Mr. Grindley, retiring. The following Tenders were received, — Milk, Mr. Deans 6d per quart. —Coffins, Mr. Atkins, £2 3s. each.—Meat, Mr. Grindley ; Beef Bd. ; Mutton, 7d. ; Shins Is. each.—Breal, Mr. Fowler, Is. ]Jd. the 41b. Loaf.—Groceries, Wines and Spirits &c as follows, —Mr. Hazlett; Arrowroot, Is.2d per lb., Butter, Is. 4d. per lb. ; Barley Pearl, Cd. per lb. ; Candles, Is. 2d. per lb.. Cocoa, 2s. per lb. ; Coffee, Is. 4>.d per lb.. ; Jams, 15s. per doz. ; Mustard, Is. per lb. ; Mazena, Is. per lb. ; Oatmeal; 4d. per lb. ; Topper, Is. per lb. ; Rice, sd. per lb. ; Salt 2id. per lb. ; Soda, 2.U1. per lb. ; Sugar, No. 1 Victorian, 7d. per lb. ; do. Brown, Od. per lb. ; Tea, per Chest, 2s. 4.U1. per lb. ;Starch CJ. per lb. ; Sauce, 20s. per doz. ; Soap, Od; per lb. ; Kerosiue, 4s. 9d. per gallon , Ale and Porter, 17s. 6d. per dozen ; Brandy, 04s per Case; do. bulk, proof, 235. 0.1. per gallon ; Bum, do.Sl9s. per gallon ; whisky, ditto, 19s. per gallon ; Sherry and Port 13s. per gallon. The Secretary was instructed to convene a Meeting of the Contributors for Wednesday the lOtli instant, for the purpose of electing President &c. A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the proceedings.
