(fro.u our owx correspoxdext.) August 18. On Saturday evening lasta FiiU'c Baz.mr was held in the School House, for the lienclit of the School Funds, unil over 45/ clear was realised. Some of the articles were of a very comical class, and, as the auctioneer, Mr. Cope, was in a very comical mood, a large cxte; t of mirth was created daring the whole of the evening. The School Committee have every reason to l.e satisfied with their success in gottui' up the Bazaar, and they are deserving of the sincere thanks of the parents of the children of the district: This afternoon tho remains of our late townsman, Councillor Edwards; were borne to their place of repose in the Cromwell Cemetry. The funeral eortage was very large, and impressiveThe deceased was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters, and the Brethren from all parts of the Cromwell district attended the mournful | ceremony. Mr Edwards breathed hi., ! last late in the afternoon of Saturday ; last, and apparently died from exhaustion. Gastric Fever, brought On by a sex ere cold, it appears was (lie primary cause of his death. The deceased was only married some few mouths past, and up to this sudden attack he seemed likely to enjoy many years of life on Cromweil.
