(To The Editor Of The Duxstan - Times.) Sir, —In your last 'issue you notice the presentation of a gown to the Eev. C. & Ross; further that it was made by a Dunedin firm, at a cost of about £ls. Now is it not high time that the practice of sending to Dunedin for these testimonials should be put a stop to. If wo had no tradesmen in the district capable of supplying such things, the case would be different; but it is patent to all that the article mentioned above could have been supplied as good and as cheaply here as in Dunedin. It is like saying to those outside the Towns, “ If you want anything out of the common you must send your orders to Dunedin, we are incapable of supplying you.” The practice can be put a stop to. Let all those who in future subscribe assure themselves, before doing so, that a townsman shall have the honor of supplying the testimonial, and, by that means, £cep the circulation of the money in ' the' : distrfft. ' The Dunedinitis are no customers of-' ohra. Then why study then at the-expense of each other ? The Town is richer that ever it has been both in material and producers, and, in my humble opinion, a fair match even for Dunedin— Ido not mean to say in cxteiit or importance, hut as a produeng community. I am Sir, UNITY. Clyde, August 19, IS6S.
