Fache, (Honorary Secretary). g: The minutes of previous meetings were •eail and confirme'l. p The Secretary stated that in obedience with a resolution of the last meeting, to she effect " that he should ascertain, what issistance the inhabitants of Alexandra would render towards the support of a Re- o sident Clergyman for the District " he had on several occasions, when at Alexandra, t mooted the subject, and that the opinion was, that the services rendered by the Rev j Mr. Ross, Presbyterian Minister, met the j requirements of the District. A letter was read from the Rev. Mr. Old. j ham, who said, that he was of opinion, that the good people of the Dunstan District were not in a position to support at present a Resident Clergyman ; he had open ed a correspondence with the Queensiown Church Committee respecting the Rev. Mr. Coffey. 1 A long and general conversation ensued, ' during which the ability of the District to * support a Church of England Clergyman i was reviewed in every liaht, ultimately on the proposition of Mr. Spensley, seconded hy Mr. Auckland, it was carried,—"That 1 seeing the support of the surrounding Districts cannot be obtained, this meeting i with sincere regret deem it would not be s advisable at the present to enter into communications with any Clergyman, with the ' view of his being located in the District. ] The Secretary was instructed to reply to 1 the letter from the Rev. Mr. Oldham, em- . bodying the foregoing resolution, The Treasurer was instructed to change the name of the Banking Account, from the Dunstan Church Account, to the Dunstan Church of England Account. The following accounts were passed for payment,—C. Ziele, £2 13s; J. Tyrrell 2s 6d. The Treasurer stated that he had paid the Rev. Mr. Granger £s.—Approved. Proposed by Mr. Christophers, seconded by Mr. Hazlett, —" That a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Spensley, Cambridge and the mover be appointed, to draw up Specifications, and to advertise for Tenders for fencing in Church Reserve, (see advertisement) Carried.
