Committee to a letter which appeared in the local Journal of the 22nd May. The Secretary in reply stated that the statements in letter refered to were without foundation ; that he had visited St. Bathaus Blaoks, and Alexandra, at which places local Committees have been established ; likewise he had taken such steps, that local Committees woul 1 be formed at Cromwell and Cardrona ; further that he had forwarded Subscription Lists to the various run-holders in the District, and that he had personally canvassed the Town and district for subscriptions. Proposed by Mr. Hastie, " That this Committee have every confidence in the See retary. Seconded by Mr. Hazlett and carried. The reports of the visiting Committee, the House Surgeon, the Hon. Treasurer, and Finance Committee were read and received. Hon. Treasurer's report showed an Overdraft at Bank of N. S. Wales of L 52 15s 7d ; Government subsidy due, LI 15811s lid. The Finance Committee's report, recommended the payment of accounts amounting to L 149 6s sd. Tho following Tenders for the Quarter ending Sept. 12th were accepted. J. Deans, Milk, 101 per quart. G. Fowler, Bread Is 3d per 41b. loaf. Attfield and Welsford, Meat 8d per lb. C. Ziele, Groceries &c. Tea 2s 5d per lb. Sugar, brown 6d per lb. do white 7d per lb. Butter, Wellington, Is 4d per lb., Rice 5d per lb., Oatmeal, 4d per lb., Flour, Adelaide 60s per bag, Starch, 61 per lb., Coffee lssdperlb, Candles, Is 2d per lb., Salt, 2sd. per lb., Pepper, Is per lb, Soap, 6d per lb-, Arrowroot, Is 2d per lb., Mustard Isld per lb., Washing Soaa, 2Jd per lb. Kerosine, 43 9d per gallon. C. Ziele—Medical comforts ; Port wine, 15s per gallon ; Sherry, 15s do ; Rum 15s do Brandy, Palo and Dark 23s do. Whiskey, 16s do. ; Brandy, Hennessy per case, G2stsd English Ale, bottled, 17s per doz. ; do Porter, 17s do. Proposed by Mr, Christophers, seconded by Mr. Hazlett, " That the resolution appointing a Finance Committee be rescinded. Carried. Proposed by Mr. Hucston, seconded by Mr. Grindley, " That the resolution naming the night of meeting be rescinded, and that the meetings of Committee in future be held on the first Tuesday in each mouth. Carried. a vote of thanks to the Chair eon clueed the proceedings.
