CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday evening, 31st ult. The Mayor and full Council attended. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read and received. Application from Mr. Gilbert Fowler for compensation for removing his house off the main street was not complied with. The application of Mr. James Holt for an extension of the area of his coal-pit was returned, with a request that he submit plans of the required ground for the consideration of the Council. Proposed by Cr. Shaw, seconded by Cr. Ryan, That the Mayor be requested to call a public meeting of the inhabitants of Clyde and the surrounding district, for the purpose of expressing their sympathy to His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh on his attempted assassination at Sydney, Carried. (See Advertisement) The usual vote to the chair concluded the business.
