The usual fortnightly meeting of the 'Council was held on Wednesday evening the 11th inst.—Present, the Mayor, Councillors GRatcliffe and 'Bcresford. The minutes of the previous meeting •were read and confirmed. The outwardanfi inward correspondence road ami received. A letter from Mr. Henry Sprey, the contractor forming Tarbcrt Street, applying for an advance of f3O on work done was read, and refered to the Works Committee. The audited statement of Receipts and Expenditure of the Corporation from its incorporation to the Mist December last was signe! by the Mayor, and ordertd to be publi hed. (See Advertisement.) Notice of motion.— Cr. Ratcliffe to move, at the next Sitting/That £ISO be advanced to the Library'flommittee for the purpose of erecting a'Council Chamber, in connection with the new Library building, Lease to be drawn up by Library Committee and submitted to the Council for approval. The-usual vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the proceedings.
