CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the School House on Monday, the 20th inst. Present : the Mayor, and Councillors, Kidd, Edwards, and Whetter. The minutes of the previous general and of a special meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Messrs. Thomas and Tippet, proposing to supply the town j with water, at the rate of £1 10s. per week. It was resolved, upon the motion of Cr. j Whetter, seconded by Cr. EdwarJs, That j Messrs. Thomas and Tippet bo written to, ; requesting further particulars. The tender of Mr. W. Dods for the kerb- ; ing and forming the foot-paths in Melmorej street, Contract No, 1, was next taken into ; consideration. Proposed by Cr. Whetter, That the tender of Mr. W. Dodds for the kcrtdng and ; forming the foot-paths in Mehnore-street, i Contract No. 1, be accepted, at the followI ing rates :—Kerbing, 123. lid. per lineal I yard ; loot-path, 2s. (3d. per lineal yard. j Seconded by Cr. Edwards, and carried. The letter from and resolutions of the i Queenstown Corporation were taken into ; consideration, and delegates appointed to ' attend tho proposed Municipal Conference. The Bye-Laws having been read and approved, Proposed by Cr. Edwards, The the Bye- ; laws do now pass. Seconded by Cr. Whetter and carried. Proposed by Cr. Edwards, seconded by Cr. Whetter, and carried, That the Public Works Committee select a site for a manure depot. The meeting then adjourned.
