ARRIVAL OF THE ENGLISH MAIL, VIA SUEZ.
I (abridged .from the daily times) London 26th Nov. The Australian Mails were delivered in London on the 16 th and 23 rd November. The Queen is at Windsor, and in good health. The Prince and Princess of Wales are at Sandringham. The Princess is able to walk with the aid of a stick. Mrs Disraeli has been seriously ill, but is recovering. Parliament has approved the Abyssinian Expedition. The Address in reply to the Queen’s Speech passed unopposed. Of five Fenians condemned to death for the murders and rescue at Manches. ter, three were hanged, one pardoned, and one reprieved. The Goal and Scaffold were strongly guarded by Military and Police. Two thousand working men acted as special constables. There was great anxiety throughout the country, but no disturbances. The Fenians threatened to burn every town in England, if the men were executed, and great efforts were made to obtain a reprieve. A deputation of workingmen waited on the Home Secretary, who refused to see them. Another deputation endeavored to see the Queen,who referred them to her Ministers. There were disgraceful scenes at the Home Office and Windsor* i' v ews from St Thomas stated that 300 bodies have been recovered and buried.
The loss of the Royal Mail Compa* ny is estimated at £250,000. At Tortola the earthquake vftivo oc. casioned the loss of 100 lives, and great distress was occasioned. Relief funds are being raised at Southampton and in London. The Queen has subscribed £2OO. Trustworthy information has been received of the safely of Dr Livingstone. Major Wesley Black all. Governor of West Africa Settlement, has been appointed Governor of QueenslancL The apartments of the British Minister at Rome was searched, during his absence, by the police. Explana-
tion was demanded, and is considered satisfactory. The new P and 0. contract covers 52 mails yearly to Bombay, 26 to Chi na, and 13 to Australia. The subsidy is £400,000, and the duration of the contract 12 years. Mr. Bright objected to the scheme of sending working men to Parliament, Mr Thomas Hughes has seceded from the Reform League. Lord Derby has refused the request of the Orangemen to repeal the “ Party Processions Act." The dshop of New Zealand has declined the Bishopric of Lichfield. Conservative Working Men’s Asso ciations ate being satisfactorily formed, The Danish Journals contradict the violent death of Countess Darner. Ir Charles Dickens is in America, and has been Well received. Stephens, the Fenian, is in France in great poverty. Burke, the Fenian has been arrested. Mr Goldwin Smith emigrates to America soon. At the sale of the Marquis of Hasting's stud, Lady Elizabeth was bought in at 65C0 guineas. The Fenian General, Halpin, has been sentenced to fifteen years penal fervitude. The banquet to Mr. Disraeli, at Edinburgh, was attended by 1300 gentlemen. He was presented with the freedom of the Citv, and an honorary degree by the University. At a colliery explosion in Glamorganshire 170 men and boys were brief. Serious riots have occurred in the Ritualistic Church at Lambeth. A petition has been presented to the House of Lords, signed by 3000 persons, accusing the Bishop of Salisbury of preaching unscriptural doctrines. Dr. Russell has been appointed the “Times” correspondent at Paris. Miss Julia Matthews has been well received in the English Opera House, Covent Garden. Lord Stanley thinks the Roman Conference useless unless a programme is prepared before hand. Mr Disraeli, at the Lord Mayor's dinner, expressed confidence in the maintenance of peace. A second dividend of 3s has been paid in the estate of the New Zealand Banking Corporation, and a dividend of Is in Overdid and Gurney’s estate, making 13s in the pound. A considerable advance has taken place in Anstaalian securities, equal in some cases to two per cent Government has resolved to take •. the management of the Telcraphs, which has given great satisfaction. No failures of importance have taken place. The Australia Trust and Agen cy Office have declared a dividend of ID per cent.

Garibaldi is still a prisoner at Spezzia, where it is stated he is treated with great severity, to induce him to go to America. '1 he physicians sent by the Government recommend his removal to Caprera, on account of his bad health. It i. asserted that he will be tried. 990 Garibaldian prisoners have been handed over to the Italian Govern, ment, The French troops are preparing to leave Pome. A grand banquet was given to them by the Roman nobility. Brigandage has roconlrae need in the Roman territory. The French Ambassador has returned to Rome. An eruption of Mount Vesuvius is ' going on. MEXICO.
T he body of the late Emperor Maximilion has been delivered up to Ad. miral Tegethoff. Prince Salm Salm and the rest of the prisoners have been set free. AMERICA. The trial of President Davis has been appointed to commence on November 25th. General Swayne has issued an order giving the Alabama freodmen the right of arranging a lien on their crops and wages. It is reported that General M'Lellan has been offered the Secretaryship of War. On the occasion of a congratulatory serenade at Washington, the Prcsb
tieat delivered an address thanking the people for the democratic victories in the elections. Arkansas election was carried by the Radicals. Several Towns in Texas have been destroyed by a recent storm. In Matamoras 1500 houses were blown down The Times' Correspondent says <the Republicans and Democrats have an even start for the Presidential election General Grant has not yet declared himself, Whichever side he takes wins. The leading members of both parties are to be prosecuted for making incendiary speeches. The Alabama Radicals propose a sweeping disfranchisement of the rebels. #ln Virginia a Judge has been ar rested for withholding justice to loyal men. It is reported that the President refuses to give reasons to the Senate for removing Stanton from the Ministry of War. Russian America has been formally transferred to the United States.
