The Sports on Tuesb'ay last were a tiro- M rough success, the weather beautifully fine,fc» and beyond a little dust, which seems an M unfortunate accompaniment to most outdoor amusements in this district, there wa3 nothing to mar the pleasures of the day. The Booth-holders drove a roaring trade, the attendance and amount of cash spent was highly satisfactory to the Bon faces. The following were the principal events : Hack Race, sweepstake of added. Two miles. No weight under lOst. Won by Mr. Briton's Meg Merrilies, Mr. Murphy's Polly Becond. Foot Race, one hundred yards, for 30«. Won by Allen Cameron. Hop, Step, and Jump, 30s. Won by Francis Dakin. Hack Race, of 15 Sovo-., one mile and a half heats. Mr. Britten's Meg Merrilies 1 1 Foswell's Fanny ... 22 Trotting Race of 8 Sovs. Won by Mr. O. Neiper's Kate, beating Mr. J. Scott's Rosie. Wrestling, Cumberland style, £3. Wonj by Thomas Brown. Wrestling, Cornish style, £3. Wj -' J. Wells. / M
