TOWN COUNCIL, ALEXANDRA.
The Council met on the 27th ult. in the Library. There was a full attendance of members present. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, and the correspondence was read and approved. The Town Clerk was instructed to write to the Government, urging upon them the necessity of proceeding immediatly with the road to Tuapeka, via, the West Bank of the Molyneux. Councillors gave notice of motion as follows :—Constable Neale to be appointed Inspector of Nuisances, with the sanction of the Chief Commissioner of Police. The assessment for the ensuing year, to be at the rate of one shilling in the pound. The Council to meet fortnightly, instead of weekly as at present. The sum of £3O, amount of contract for clearing away rubbish from the back of the Town, was ordered to be paid. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the proceedings.
