CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL,
The meeting adjourned from the 12th. inst. was held on Friday last, at noon, i the Council Chambers, present, the Mayor, Donald M'Pherson Esq. and Councillors Shaw, M'Connoehie, Goodwin, Cambridge Ryan, and Hazlett. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Inward ami outward correspondence was read and approved. The assessment on the School Committee's property, consisting of the Master's house and garden was, in accordance with, a letter from the Secretary of that body ordered to be foregone. The meeting resolved into a Committee of Finance. Business being resumed, accounts amoun ting to £172 8 0 ware passed for payment. Mr. Fe-aud's account of £3 ", 0 paid to Mr. Marshall for delivery of letters was rejected. The Assesssrnent Roll, as furnished by the Valuators, Messrs Grindley and Cope was approved and received. Mr. Hazlett gave notice of motion, that at the next meeting of the Council, he would move, that a clock lie placed in some conspicuous spot over the Town Hall Councillor Shaw proposed, that a vote <>f thanks be given to J. D. Feraud Esq. J.P. and late Mayor, for the very efficient manner in which he had conducted the business of the Council during his term of office, and that the Town Clerk write a letter to Mr. Fpraud, expressing the sense of the Council in this matter. Seconded by Councillor Hazlett and carried. The usual vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the proceedings.
