ARRIVAL OF THE ENGLISH MAIL VIA PANAMA.
The English Mail, via Panama, bringing news tu the 10th September, arrived at Wellington on Sunday, October the 27th. The general summary is deficient in news of any interest, saving a few item 3 in connection with America. The following is condensed from the "Daily Times" of the '27 th Oct. The Queen, whose Ihetfith 'is good, has gone to Scotland. The Earl of Bjlmore was gazetted Governor and Commander in Chief of New South Wales on August 23rd. The Prince and Princess of Wales are at Wiesbaden. The Princess does not, recover; hut the papers say, "That circumstance does not appear to interfere with the personal enjoyments of her royal husband at the fashionahl; German baths. The Solicitor General his been knighted, and is now Sir Charles Jasper Selwyn. Henry Thomson, the eminent surgeon, has been knighted. The visit of the Emperor of the French to Salzburgh has had a disastrous effect upon the Europe in Bourses, n it-withstanding his rapeated protests at Arras and Lille, that he means peace. In America, excitement as to the next I Presidential election has commenced. No. pirties yet know who their nominees will be. Mormonism appears to be collapsing. Brigham Young h.is been excommunicating sundry persons. Gold has been discovered near Utah, and : the Mormons are leaving in thousands. The correspondence respecting the Ala. ! bania e>se has been published. . I Mr. Bright and Mr. Neele still urge acita'ion for Pefonn, and the Ballot a.s the - next step.
