The conductor is Air. A . Nancarrow, a local gentleman of no mean ability in musical matters. We trust the at'emlancc will he commensurate with the praiseworthy object in view. Erratum.—ln our report of the case of Harry Brail', heard at Cromwell on the 25th ult, before Mr, If. W Robinson. R.M., it was made to appear in evidence that the prisoner was seen to open the till and have the money in his hand. This was au error. Jhe facts, as brought out in evidence, wore that Bruff was seen to reach over the counter near where the till was, and that when called to by the storeman, who was watching him, lie left the pn mises. Something rather novel in the shape of a pie-nic occurred near Clyde during the last few days. It appears that a recent resident, feeling that the late warm sunshiny weather expended its genial influence in vain while he was remorselessly tied to a life behind the counter, resolved upon a pie-nic all to himself, and with that view procured three bottles of grog, two ditto of water, and some fourteen pounds of beef, together with a correspondmg supply of bread and other adjuncts to a feast. Armed with this supply lie directed his steps up the bank of the Moiyneux, and selecting a nice sheltered ncok among the rocxs for his al fresco feast, he continued to enjoy himself by feasting and s'coping for three whole days, and in all probability might have continued it longer had he not have been missed and brought home by his friends from his sylvian retreat. It is almost«un. necessary to add that the individual in question is on the sick list. This evening a grand hall will be he’d at the new assembly rooms, Kavvarau Gorge, for the benefit of the funds of the Dunstan District Hospital.
