INCORPORATED TOWN OF ALEXANDRA.

The usual meeting of tlie Council Was held on Wcilnesilay lust. Present, the Mayor, Robert Finlay Esq. and Councillors Jack, Bcrcsford, Katcliffe, and Theyers. The minutes of the last meeting being read and ■confirmed,—lt was moved by Cnuncillor Theyers and.seconded by Councillor Batcliffe, and carried,—"That the Town Clerk be instructed to communicate with the Corporations of Milton and Lawrence, also with Mr J. Beighton Teviot, asking their co-operation regarding the opening up of the Main Trunk Road via Tokomairiro, Tua.pe'ka and Teviot to this place, via th* West bank of the Molyncux River. Moved by Councillor Theyers and seconded by Councillor Beresford " That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to Mr John dimming, conveying.tho thanks of the 'members of the Municipal Council for the efficient manner in which he, as Returning Officer conducted the lato elections. Also at the same time to write to Mr Richard Watkins conveying the thanks of the Council for his assistance while holding the office of Acting Town 'Clerk. 1 ' The visual vote to the Chair, concluded the proceedings.
