TOWN COUNCIL.

CLYDE. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council, was held on Tuesday evening, the 19th inst,—Present, the V!ayor, and Councillors Cambridge, Cope, Ryan, Ilazlett aud M'Connochie. The minutes of last fortnightly, and of intervening special meetings were read and confirmed. An application from Mr W. Chadwick, to ere:t a verandah in Sunderland Street, •was granted, provided that such verandah be erected in accordance with plans to be furnished by Public Works Committee. Tenders from Messrs Ilazlett ami Co, and Hopper and Beck, for renting the Victoria Hotel and stablce was ordered to ttnnd over. Application from Messrs

ffoyt and Co. to bo allowed to stand their coaches in Sunderland Street the night previous to departure, was not received. 'lhc liabilities incurred in the reception of His Excellency, the Governor, were ac knowledged, and ordered to be paid on the accounts being approved by Finance Committed. Mr Cope was appointed a member the Finance Committee, in the absence of Mr Goodwin. A vote of thanks was returned in favor of those gentlemen who assisted in the erection of the Triumphal arches, and who otherwise lent their aid to assist in the public demonstrations on the occasion of His Kxcellency the Governor's visit. The grand arch was ordered to be sold by public Auction. It was proposed and carried, that the Victoria Hotel and stables be let. and that tenders be called for same. Councillor I ope proposed, and Councillor Cambridge seconded that l ! is Excellency the Governor be petitioned to grant a sitting of the '•'■uprenle Court to be held at Clyde.— arried Proposed by Councillor M'Connochie"That the Government be memorialised to make good that portion of the Dunedin Road, between the Dunstan Flat, and the terraces.
