CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting was held in the School Room on Monday last. The Mayor and full Council present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The report of the Town Surveyor was read and received* Proposed by Councillor Marsh, That an additional L. 100 be voted for the formation of Mel-tnore-street, making altogether (with the former vote' a sum of L.208 appropriated for that purpose. Seconded by Councillor Kidd, and carried. Proposed by Councillor Marsh, seconded by Councillor Whetter, and carried, That Mr B;esley, the Town Surveyor, be requested to atteed a special me.ting, to be convened for tt a purpose. Proposed by Councillor Hetherington, That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to Messrs. Ferguson and Mitchell, enclosing two designs for a Municipal seal, asking them to inform the Council of the relative cost of engraving. ■Seconded by Councillor Whetter, and carried. Proposed by Councillor Marsh, seconded by Councillor Kidd, and carried, That a rate of two shillings in the pound on the assosment be voted for the present year. The letter from Mr. R. Brown read at a former meeting was again discussed, the Council ultimately determining to take no action thereon. The meeting then adjourned.
