TOWN COUNCIL, CLYDE.
The Council met on Friday afternoon last, in lieu of the usual fortnightlv meetinc which should have been held on the following Tuesday ; that being Christmas day. The Mayor and full Council were present. The Town Clerk, read the correspondence and minutes of lost meeting, which minutes were confirme L Proposed by Councillor Cope, seconded by Councillor Hazlett—"That the application of Messrs Naylor and M'Pherson, to be relieved from any responsibility as sureties for Mr W. L. Bayley, late Town Clerk, stand over till this dav six months." Carried. Proposed bv Councillor Hazlett, seconded by Councillor M'Connochie—" That the letter from the Hon. George Brodie, be received ; and that the same be acknowledged with thanks." Carried. Proposed by Councillor Cone,—"That the petition of Messrs Smitham, M'Pherson, and Winstanley, be laid aside ; this Council not feeling themselves competent to deal with the matter." Seconded by Councillor M'Connochie and carried. Proposed by Councillor Ryan,—" That all accounts for public works, performed by contract be paid." Seconded by Councillor Cope and carried Proposed by Councillor Cope, seconded by K M'Connochie—" That the appointergeant Andrew Thompson, to the ispector of Nuisances be confirmed." 1 by Councillor M'Connochie—"That itions on the footpaths, in Snnderit, including Telegraph and Limp removed." Seconded by Councilor id carried. I by Councillor MConnochie—" That urnent Gazette, and Dunstan Tim»s, y filed in the Town Office."
