PUBLIC MEETING AT CLYDE.

A numerously attended public meeting was held at the Council Chambers Clyde, on Wednesday evening last, the Mayor Mr J. D. Feraud occupied the chair. The object of the meeting was to memorialize His Honor the Superintendent, with the object of procuring the establishment of a District Court. The Mayor, after a brief but appropriate address, called upon Mr Jas. Hazlett to propose the first resolution. That this District being one of the most important of the Goldfields, and also the centre of a large area of country ; it is desirable, that a District Court should be established at Clyde; and that a memorial to that effect, be forwarded to His Honor the Superintendent, praying him to take such steps, as will give effect to the memorial. Seconded by Mr Goodwin and carried. The Mayor then read a memorjil which he. had prepared upon the subject; approved by (he meeting. Proposed by Mr Cope, that signatures be procured to the memorial now re:'d j and that the same be forwarded to His Honor the Superintendent. Seconded by Mr W. L. Bailey and carried. Mr Donald Mc. Pherson M. P. C. having addressed the persons assembled on subjects connected with the Gold-fields ; the meeting closed with the usual vote to the Chair.
