"Of 10 Sovs. For all horses the bona fide property of Miners and Packers for the last three months ; one mile and a-half heats. No weight under 10 stone. Post Entrance £l. TOWN PLATE. Of 40 Sovs. Second Horse to save his stake; open to all horses except the winners at Dunstan meeting ; two miles. Weight for age. Entrance £4. HACK RACE. Of 5 Sovs. Entrance 10s. For all horses that have not been entered for any race of this meeting. Catch weights, mile heats. Post Entry. WEDNESDAY, 2nd JANUARY. SECOND-DAY. MATAKANUI HANDICAP. Of 30 Sovs. Open to all horses, to be Handicapped by the Stewards the first night of meeting. Nomination, £2 ; acceptance £2. Distance two miles, winner of Town Plate to carry 7 lb. penalty. HURDLE RACE. Of 10 Sovs. Twice round the Course, over eight flights of hurdles, for all horses that have never won an advertised hurdle race or steeple chase. Entrance £l. Catch weights. PONY RACE. Of 10 Sovs. One mile, catch weights, 14 hands and under. Entrance 20s. Post Entry. PUBLICANS’ PURSE. Of 15 Sovs. Open to all horses that have never won an advertised race. One mile heats, weight for age. Entrance £l. CHEROOT RACE. Of 5 Sovs. Once round the Course the winner to smoke a cigar throughout, and come in with it alight. Entrance ss. Post Entry. RULES. 1. Rules and Regulations of the Otago Jockey Club will beadhei'ed to in all cases. 2. Jockey Club costume will be insisted upon, except in Post Entry Races, when a Cap will be sufficient. 3. Persons entering their horses to give name and colours of the rider. 4. No person allowed to enter a horse unless a subscriber of two guineas to the Race Fund, except for Post Entry Races. 5. Five per cent, to be deducted from all winnings. 6. Decisions of the Stewards, in all cases, to be final. 7. All Entries to be made to the Secretary on the Saturday previous to the Meeting, up to ten o’clock p.m., or at the Sydney Hotel, C yde, enclosing entry money, except for Matakanui Handicap, which will be received the first night of meeting, and acceptances immediately the weights are decided.
