DUNEDIN.

17th Nov. Thsre is li'tle doubt that Mr Vogel has succeeded in forming a Government strong in its component pa-.ts and powerful for good ; if the several gentlenon who have thus conjoined themselves tof ether, will consent to sink differences of opiiion with regard to General Government politio, and work for the good of the province. There is, indeed, no reason why questions which must be settled in the Assembly should divide parties in the Provincial Council, whose united artion in matters purely provincial would remit in the greatest possible advantage to the whole community. The 'personel' of the lew Executive gives fair promise that the interests of the up-country districts will be really attended to ; and the Ooldfiekls must fe£ that in the hands of Mr Mouat, the prosperity of the mining community will receive a now and permanent stimulus. This gentleman has distinguished himself during his political career attention to business and a practical knowledge of the multitudinous subjects imoortant to his large constituency. Mr Dillca Bell has been a sincere friend to the miners, aid it is in a considerable measure owing to the exertion of his influence that the present liberal legislation with regard to the goldfields is due. Mr Maddock, although unknown to fame, and joining the Executive as the legal partner, has Always acted with the goldfields members, and never identified himself •with Dunedin or the old Otago party. Under any circumstances it is a matter of congratulation that at last we have a'new identity Government, who it is to be hoped will clear out the 'Auga»n Stable' of o'.d Otago abuse, and initiate anew system of eqv.it.'.hie administration of the large resources of the Province.
