Going into the cutting all were going at a good pace. Passing the stand The Poet had again taken the lead, Normanby and Woodnymph being ties for second place, Administrator fourth, Libeller fifth. Going out of the straight The Poet went to the front, gaining a good command. Normanby, running very strongly, raced him at tho back of tho course, obtaining a good second place, followed by Woodnymph, Alaric, and Libeller. In this order they went into the straight, a length separating the leaders, Normanby, racing splendidly, closed with The Poet.
