Tho Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross, 15S tons, Capt. Hutchison master, from South, arrived hero last night. Mr Waldie, her purser, kindly reports as fol-lows-.—Left Oamaru 8.35 p.m. on Ist inst., passed A.karoa 11.50 a.m. on 2nd, passed Kaikouras 11.50 p.m. same date, breasted Cape Campbell 6.30 a.m. on 3rd, arrived at Wellington 11.30 a.m., sailed 6.10 p.m., rounded CapePalliser 10.30 p.m. same date, breasted Cape Tumagain 10 a.m. on the 4th, passed Blackhead 12.20 p.m., rounded Kidnappers 5 p.m., and arrived at Napier 7.10 p.m. same date. Experienced light variable winds and heavy swell to Kaikouras, light N.W. winds to Cape Campbell, strong N.W. wind to Wellington, thence light N. winds and swell to Blackhead, and fresh N.W. winds and sea to arrival. The Cross discharged inside at the breastwork this morning and at 3 p.m. this day was to have steamed for Gisbornc, Tauraga, and Auckland. Mr Viiuticr's three-masted schooner Silver Cloud, Capt. Charles Balle, from Newcastle, N.S.W., arrived here this morning, after a thirteen and a half days' passage. After being lightered of about thirty tons of coal aft, she will be berthed inside to discharge the remainder. Her cargo id for her owner. The Union Company's s.s. Tarawcra, Capt. Sinclair, is telegraphed as having left Auckland at 5 o'clock last night. She will be leaving , Gisborne to-night, and will be due here to-morrow morning. She will be tendered as usual, and at 2 p.m. is announced to steam on her course. The steamer t-ir Donald took a trip to Tongoio yesterday, and shipped 130 bales of wool off the beach. .The s.s. Wairoa, Captain H. Anderson, is to steam for Wairoa at 11 o'clock tonight, carrying passengers and cargo. The Union Company's .steamer Te Anau, Captain M'Gee, is to leave Wellington this evening, being due here at about noon tomoiTow. She is announced to steam for Northern ports at 7 p.m.

The Zealandia with the November colonial mails arrived at 'Frisco from Auckland on the 2nd inst., one day earlier than her time-table date. Lytteltow, December k Arrived, Coptic, from Port Chalmers. Sailed, Tc Anau for North. Passengers for Napier—Miss Collins and Mr Dillon.
