Messrs Monteith and Co. report a good attendance at their sale of-horses on Friday. Tho catalogue comprised 57 head, a large proportion of which wero much better animals than "are usually yarded for sale by miction, with the result that competition was brisk for. the superior lots. The following prices were realised: —1 superior weightcarrying hack, 50 guineas; 1 well-bred mare, £31 ;■ 1 good weight-carrying hack, £25;' 1 dodo, £20 ; useful backs, £12 to £18; useful light harness sorts, £12 to £20; meJium.draughts, £17 to £27. Ponies averaged £12 10s eaoh; light and ordinary hacks; £5 to £10. . At their usual weekly sale at tho Horse Bazaar,.Napier, on Saturday 22 horses were entored, comprising several good sorts, which were sold at satisfactory figures, scrubbers, as usual, being hard to quit. Useful light harness horses fetched to £16 ; medium backs up to £10 ; light and seedy do, £4 to £7.
