[by telegraph.] This day. The above commenced to-day with glorious weather, but only a moderate attendance. The proceedings opened with the Hurdio Race for which Trapper had slightly the call in betting owing to Jimmy Cotton having the mount, and be won an interesting race by half a length. The totalisator recently imported from Wellington was used and gave general satisfaction. The following aro the results:— HURDLE RACE, Of 70 soys; two miles and a distance. Trapper, 9st 71b .. .. 1 Linwood, 9s 101b .. ..2 Little John, lOst 51b .. ..3 Glenara, 9st 121b .. ..0 —Magic, Ravcnswood, Gang Awa', and Doctor were scratched. Glenara at once went to the front and led for nearly a mile, when she ran round the hurdles. The others kept well together, but Cotton was pulling double on Trapper, and eventually won a well, judged race with littlo in hand. Time, 4rains. Dividend on Hurdles, £2 12s. MAIDEN PLATE, Of 60 soys , \\ miles, Hon. G. McLean's Rubezahl, 7st 21b.. 1 Mr Stead's Puck, 7st 121b .. ■ .. .2 Mr Smith's Ravenswood, 9st 3lb 7.3 — Ouida (Sst 121b), and Cassoway (7st 9lb), also started. A grand finish, a short neck separating first and second, with Ravenswood half a length off. Ouida led to the distance post and then collapsed. Time, 2mins 21 sees. Betting—s to 4 against Rubezahl, 2to 1 against Puck.
