CORRESPONDENCE.

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegrith.]

Sir, —Your " local" paragraphist is a shade hypercritical in your yesterday's issue ; his vaulting critical ambition having overleapt itself t'other side. In what was no doubt meant for a friendly and playful correction of an expression used in the R.M. Court by a member of the legal profession, he seems to indicate it as his opinion that there is a distinction—l imagine he means a wrdc distinction—between the meanings of tho words "inevitable" and "unavoidable." May I, in an equally friendly spirit, point out to him that the" words are absolutely synonymous; tho latter being the most exact and literal translation in English of the Latin word of whi.ch the former is the anglicised form adopted in our language, and either would have been equally applicable under the circumstances; but the former was the more classic and elegant English.—l am, &c...
