In connection with the rejoicing at West,port over the passing of the Harbor Bill, and the alleged effigy burning, the.following message was received by Mr O'Conor, M?H.R., from the Mayor of Westport: — " The passing of the bill was the oause of o-eneral rejoicing, and ypn may be sure the burning of effigies did not form part of the programme, but was merely boys' amusement, and tlie citizens regret that anything of the kind occurred." Mr Shnmski, M.H.R., has received from the Mayor, a telegram of a similar nature.
