Wellington, This day. Mr Hugh Shortland who was arrested in England " some months ago for murder, arrived by tho Doric yesterday, In a letter to the N.Z. Times" after recapitulation of the facts of his arrest, says :—" I trust to be able to give practical form to the principle of international right by representing mv case for State remonstrance and reparation if such there can be at the bar of the New Zealand House of Representatives simultaneously to raising same point by proxy in the English House of Commons."! Patea, This day. A man named M'Gorvcrn, committed suicide yesterday by cutting his throat with a pair of scissors, and enlarging the wound by tearing it with his lingers. An inquest will be hold to-day.
