October 15. Considerable surprise has been expressed by financiers in the city at the withdrawal of the Melbourne Gas Company's loan from the market. The loan was being negotiated by the Bank of New South Wales, and it has transpiried that the Bank of England has refused to continue to subscribe loans unless they are entrusted with the floating of them.
