Administrator, Gabble, and Miss Deal arrived by steamer on Saturday, and have taken up their quarters at Hastings. Administrator is an extremely neat even-made horse, and looks all over a goer, but I do not like his condition :he is very big, r.nd will not bo within many pounds of his proper form on Monday next. Lyford tells me that he had not been able to give him near the work he would have liked to have done on account of the weather and the bad state of the ground. Gabble is looking much better, but also on tho big side, she is a marc I like the look of, and fancy will run well at this meeting. Misdeal, who is out of the same mare as Leonora, is likelier in colour, and rather a nice toped mare, but has very faulty looking legs ; both her hocks are capped caused by her kicking propensity in the stable, and her fore legs aro sadly blemished through her having been skin sore when a two-year-old.

In the Free Handicap tho weights of most of the horses arc one, two, or throe pounds more than in the Flying Handicap, but The Arrow, who was handicapped at Ost 71bs in both the Spring and Flying, has had 91bs added to his weight, and Abraham, who was handicapped at Ost Slbs anel Ost lOlbs, is called upon to carry 7st 51bs in the Free Handicap. Breeze has had 121bs added-to his weight. These are the only horses that have had their weights raised more than 3lbs from the Flying Handicap weights, and Aimee is the only one that has had less weight alloted to her, she having -libs less than in the Flying, therefore she will meet.Abraham and The Arrow on 13lb better terms than she would in the FlyingHandicap.

This morning, being the finest we have had for the last week or so, and tho plough being in good order, I expected some fast work would be done, so was on the course about daylight. The work was commenced by Gabble and Misdeal, who went once round together. Misdeal then went back up the straight, and came home with Gabble, who had gone the second time round. The pair came home fast. Gabble went well and strong, and seemed to have more foot than tho filly. Miss Dargon and Flying Scud then went a mile and a half slow. Miss Dargon looked well and moved nicely. Pearl and Marksman went together the first mile fast, and the second slow. The filly is looking very fit. and moves like a racehorse ; she has a deal more foot than the colt. Administrator went twice round by himself at a steady pace, moving very nicely. The Arrow and the Song-stre.s.s filly were sent twice round, the second time fast. Lconato went once round with a hack, and was joined by Forerunner for the second round, both going - well. Pastime, Blackbird, Steeldust,' and Aimcc did slow work. Wild Dayrell did three times round at a useful pace. Emir Bey, with clothing on, did useful work ; ho is looking very tit and well, and takes to his work as though he liked it. Should he be in a trood temper on the race days ho will give a good account of himself. Yankee also went well, pulling tbe boy nearly out of tho saddle ; he has been taking very kindly to his work, and is as well as I ever saw him.' Captain Russell's" team had not come on the' ground when Heft. Most of the Wanganui horses are expected to-morrow.
