Dunkdin, This day. annual meeting of the Otago Meat Froc/iug- and Produce Company was held on Saturday. The directors reported having secured a site for the works, &<;,, but btated tUu,t a, policy of inaction had been deemed desirable in view of the present aspect of the frozen meat trade. The directors had, liowevcr, been making enquiries as to tlio advisability of establishing butter mid cheese factories, and th,oy recomuiended that the venture should be undertaken. The following motion was carried :—"That the directors be instructed to establish butter and' cheese factories in .such localities ns prcsmit openings, on getting guarantees from the farmers of the district that they will supply milk at a sati.sfactor}- price." This company must not be confounded with the New 'Zealand Freezing Company, which was the first one established in Dunedip, and in iv active oneration.
The Kaitangata Coal Company show a net profit for the year of £3762, notwithstanding that the mine was closed for six months in winter by a fire. A dividend at the rate of 10 pur cent, has been declared.
