Baxter, returned from Wairoa at 1.15 p.m. yesterday, bringing three Maori passengers, and a number of miscellaneous packages as The s.s. Kiwi, Capt. James Campbell, got away for Wellington at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. Tho Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross arrived at Wellington at 3 p.m. yesterday, ;uid %vus to liavo left again for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland at the same hour to-day. She is due here to-morrow afternoon, "and at noon on Saturday is to resume her passage. Tho s.s. Go-Ahead, Capt. Plnmley, finished discharging yesterday afternoon, and at G p.m. steamed for Wellington. The s.s. Wcka, Capt. John Campbell, returned from Tologa Bay and five other northern coastal stations this forenoon. Tlie s.s. Wairoa, Capt. H. Anderson, took her departure for Wairoa at 1 o'clock this morning, taking a few passengers and a good cargo. She arrived in tho river at 0 a.m. The s.s. Thomas Russell, Capt. Ilelander, arrived in the roadstead at about 11 o'clock last night from Gisbornc, and took up her berth at the cattle wharf at 3 o'clock this morning. She is to take in about-150 sheep to-day for the Auckland market, and at 6 o'clock to-night will steam for Auckland direct. Tho brigantinc Eliza Firth has cleared at the Customs in ballast for Grey mouth, and ■will probably get away to-morrow. The Union Company's 5.,5., Rotomahana was to have left Auckland at noon to-day for Southern East Coast ports, Hobart, and Melbourne, being due hove at daylight on Saturday.
